Introduction
Toward the end of the Pacific War, the Allies demand that Japan accept the Potsdam Declaration. The cabinet debates round-the-clock whether to keep fighting or to surrender. While the tactical situation is getting deteriorated, the Emperor is faced with the difficult decision. Masato Harada has crafted the non-fiction masterpiece of Kazutoshi Hando into a brilliant movie starring the Japan's top actors.

Born in 1949. He made his directorial debut with Goodbye Flickmania (1979). He works in a wide range of genre from entertainment films with social perspectives such as Spellbound (1999) and Climber's High (2008) to family dramas in the lineage of Ingmar Bergman and Ozu, such as Chronicle of My Mother (2012) which won Special Grand Prize of the Jury at the Montreal World Film Festival, and Early Autumn (2012) which won Best Director at Monte-Carlo TV Festival.
