Introduction

A couple embark on an early vacation. Left alone, their children cut loose until the boy gets caught for skipping school and things take an unexpected turn. Boasting exquisite camerawork, the film is also unforgettable for its wholly original ending.

This is the second feature by Olmo Omerzu, Czech cinema’s bright young hope. Like an early Omerzu short, in which a young couple on their honeymoon abruptly realize that getting married was a mistake, or the director’s last film, in which some children accidentally get caught up in the adult world, this new drama deftly focuses on crucial turning points in everyday life. Though it might at first seem like a run-of-the-mill teen movie, the story suddenly takes an unexpected turn as the bourgeoisie family ventures into what is previously unexplored territory for a “family film.” Karel Roden, the dog-loving father, is an internationally recognized Czech actor who has appeared in numerous Hollywood movies.
