Kadokawa Shoten made the film of a novel by Seiichi Morimura written for film adaptation as requested by Haruki Kadokawa. Killing skills have been drilled into a man by the authorities. But he pins his hope of restoring his humanity on a girl. The film is the third work of so-called "Kadokawa Film", following The Inugami Family and Proof of the Man.

Junya Sato

He debuted as a director with Rikugun Zangyaku Monogatari (1963). His works include Proof of the Man (1977), The Go Masters (1982) and Oroshiya Kokusui Mutan (1992), etc. He worked with Ken Takakura in Golgo 13 (1973), The Bullet Train (1975), Proof of Wildness (1978), etc. He won the Japan Academy Prize for Picture of the Year and Director of the Year for The Silk Road. He also won the Grand Prize for The Go Masters at Montreal.
