Introduction
The untold story of O-Ei, Master Hokusai's daughter: a lively portrayal of a free-spirited, utterly outspoken and hugely talented woman and artist, unfolding through the changing seasons. "We're father and daughter. With two brushes and four chopsticks, we'll get by anywhere". The film won Jury Award at Annecy International Animated Film Festival 2015, Satoshi Kon Award and Audience Award at Fantasia International Film Festival 2015.

Born in 1959, Hara worked on a number of hit family shows before shifting to independent filmmaking and more personal projects. Summer Days with Coo (2007) and Annecy-winning Colorful (2010) were both awarded at the Japan Academy Prize. His latest film, Miss Hokusai (2015) has gained international critical accolades. Hara admires classic filmmakers such as Yasujiro Ozu and Keisuke Kinoshita.
