Introduction

Tomorrow is Samira's wedding ceremony and Bahar and Parisa are shopping excitedly. But at night somebody calls and tells them that the bride is dead and the wedding has been called off. They are both shocked and they cannot believe what they have heard, so they go straight to their friend's fiancé, Mansoor, to find out about the cause of her suspicious death.

Set in a contemporary city, this drama, depicting a series of highly charged events that occur amid a tangled web of family relationships, is part of a lineage that stretches back to the beginning of this decade, when Iranian cinema emerged as a powerful force. While its message is shocking, the film is unusual as a whodunit in which two young women try to get to the bottom of the story’s central incident. The distinguished cast includes Rana Azadivar (as Samira), who also appeared in Asghar Farhadi’s “About Elly” (2009), and Babak Karimi (as Samira’s father), a winner of the Silver Bear for Best Actor at 61st Berlin for his performance in Farhadi’s “A Separation” (2011). Samira’s fiancé is played by the ever-popular Hamed Behdad.
