Introduction
Some young people are living a self-contained life in a secluded spot, when the calm is broken by the roar of jet fighters and other signs of war. The work depicts the irrationality that pervades this situation with highly original sounds and images.
Since receiving praise for his first feature film “AUTUMN BALL” (2007) at a host of international film festivals, including Venice, director Veiko Õunpuu has released a series of ambitious works. Not only is he one of the most promising artists in his homeland of Estonia, but also in Europe as a whole. Depicting the inner lives of those who dwell outside social norms in a poetic and surreal style, his works appeal to all five of the viewer’s senses. With overwhelming visual beauty and innovative sound, this film portrays the wavering of the human mind in a dystopian society filled with disturbing presentiments of war. It is a bold attempt to envision a world that transcends today’s climate of pessimism and nihilism.
