Introduction

FOUJITA is Director Kohei Oguri’s first work filmed partially outside of his native country. His desire to expand his horizons and shoot part of his film in France mirrors Foujita’s own experience outside Japan. The film is a quiet and profound reflection on art, war, being an outsider both abroad and at home and the changing nature of man. It is also a beautiful portrait of an artist who, like his contemporary Picasso, loved the women who influenced his work through different artistic periods. Starring Jo Odagiri, and Miki Nakatani, tranquil visuals by Oguri will take you to the exquisite world of Foujita.
