Introduction

Movie star Rengo commits suicide and it is his childhood friend Daiki who discovers the body. The grieving Daiki makes a copy of his suicide note and soon afterward announces that he will write a book about his friendship with Rengo. Daiki continues to chase Rengo’s shadow, investigating his life in the hope of understanding his death.

Isao Yukisada

Isao Yukisada, born in Kumamoto in 1968, made his feature film directing debut with Sunflower (2000), won the FIPRESCI Prize at the 5th Busan International Film Festival. He won numerous awards with Go (2001), including the Japan Academy Award for Best Director. With subsequent films Crying Out Love, in the Center of the World (2004), Year One in the North (2005), Spring Snow (2005), he cemented his status as a hitmaker.
